What to Do

Begin with the outdoors in mind. Over 800 miles of maintained trails and streams teeming with life zigzag through Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Known as America’s most visited national park, this natural treasure trove is an International Biosphere Reserve and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Plan a hike to the top of Mt. LeConte, go flyfishing in the river, or ride horseback on age-old trails. Then get ready to see the Smokies from above. Aerial tour companies, such as Scenic Helicopter Tours, provide a bird’s-eye view of the region offering tours that fly high above seldom trekked stretches of forest while highlighting the history and ecology of our mountains.

When international superstar Dolly Parton sings about her “Tennessee Mountain Home,” she’s singing about our community. Born and raised in Sevierville, Dolly is a celebrated local hero who gives back in countless ways. While visiting, enjoy all things Dolly. Begin in historic downtown Sevierville, where a bronze statue of the country music legend graces our Courthouse lawn. Take time to embark on a self-guided historic walking tour, snap photos with vibrant murals, and even see where Dolly played her first paying gig at the age of 10. Then make plans to visit Dollywood for award-winning rides, shows, and that world-famous cinnamon bread.

When it comes to shopping, Sevierville’s stores specialize in iconic American brands at unbelievably great prices. Head to Tanger Outlets Sevierville to shop retailers like Levi’s, Nike, Disney, Tommy Hilfiger, The North Face, New Balance, and more. Then shop around town for more favorites including Harley Davidson and Carhartt. Prefer something crafted locally? Explore the work of favorite Sevierville artists like Robert A. Tino at his farmhouse gallery, or venture into the Glades Arts & Crafts Community, just down the road.
